Oracle Redwood is coming - here's what you need to know

Jul 12 / Fudge Team
With Oracle’s new User Interface experience, Redwood, being a mandatory change, it’s no wonder there has been an increase in conversation on how it’ll affect Oracle users and customers.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!
Oracle Redwood is being phased in right now, with mandatory adoption for Procurement and HCM rapidly approaching.
By Release 25B (in April 2025), all Employee Self Service (ESS) and Manager Self-Service (MSS) will be in Redwood, and Procurement users are expected to be using Redwood in early 2025.

Further modules will follow as Oracle continues its multi-phased approach to make the adoption as smooth as possible.

WHEN TO ADOPT REDWOOD?

Simply put, the sooner, the better!

There is no current recommended timeline; however, the sooner Redwood is implemented, the sooner user adoption can begin, and any necessary training or support can be provided in a timely manner.

Waiting until the last minute will lead to a hectic transition, leaving users flustered and anxious when using a new system so abruptly. This can cause work disruptions and potential project delays.

This change anxiety can be prevented with adequate planning and training.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR REDWOOD TRANSITION!

While this is not an exhaustive plan, it will provide an insight into a suggested plan of action.

Analyse how the transition will affect your team/workflows and who it will impact.Plan the next phases and estimated timelines.
  • Agree on a communication, training, and change strategy.
  • Construct a plan covering configuration, testing, migration, and change management.
  • Assemble required training assets and communications.
  • Establish a cutover plan and BAU support.

Execute the implementation and cutover plan.
  • Deliver Communications
  • Deliver Training
  • Manage Change
  • Support user community

WHAT TYPE OF TRAINING?

Communication and training are vital when supporting change. There are many ways to do this, but our recommendation is to maximise eLearning for this scale of impact. It’s more cost-effective and timesaving compared to traditional classroom-based training, and it also enables users to learn at their own pace.

FUDGELEARN ACADEMY

We’ve built our new Academy to house our new Courses and eLearning. Courses are designed to replicate real business problems, so learners can practice and understand how the system works, giving them time to practice, learn from their mistakes, and feel confident before using the system live.

The courses are interactive with simulations, meaning users actively learn within a simulated Cloud environment, which replicates how they’ll use the system during their daily work.

Additionally, knowledge is validated with certificated assessments, so users feel confident that they’ve retained what they’ve learned.
